In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the application of bacterial cellulose (BC) in food packaging due to ongoing ecological harm caused by petroleum-based plastic. However, the market has been limited due to high modification costs and hydrophilicity.

BactOPack has successfully developed novel BC films through simple physical and chemical modifications. The technology has been granted with U.S. Patent in 2024. The properties of these modified films, including morphology, water/oil/antibacterial barrier, mechanical/thermal stability, were thoroughly investigated to create an eco-alternative for packaging industry.

Why choose BactOPack BC films?

  • Transparent
  • Flexible
  • High barrier
  • High mechanical strength
  • 100% Biodegradable
